Approximately 5 years ago, a spaceship of unknown origin adrift in space was stumbled across by a deep space exploration mission. Despite efforts to scan it our sensors were unable to detect anything inside. It was decided that the craft would be towed back to alliance space.

What happened from there was never revealed as all information was deemed a matter of Alliance Security and all records sealed or destroyed. If the rumors are to be believed, the ship sent to tow the alien craft back into space arrived with no crew. Or rather, no living crew. According to these rumors, each person stationed in the towing craft killed themselves approximately 3 months before arriving back in Alliance territory, and the ship came back via auto-pilot.

This spawned a fierce debate with what exactly should be done with the alien craft, with many people saying that it should be swiftly destroyed. But there were others who, recognizing we had no idea what was in the craft, thought it was silly to be afraid of what was quite simply, the unknown. According to the government, the alien craft was destroyed in an effort to protect the people. Yet still murmurs exist suggesting that the Alliance has discovered a way to transport people inside the vessel, and indeed dozens of people have been transported in never to be seen again.

The Alliance, of course, has continually denied such claims, yet evidence still remains relatively convincing. With that, you are free to make up your own minds on the subject.
