Paradoxian Nightlife
From Wormhole Sci-Fi MUD Homepage
Paradoxians love life, and they love to party. They’re far too frivolous to found a space colony, really. Perhaps that’s why Rachel loves them and their odd ways. In Paradoxian Nightlife, players were able to visit a music venue, have a drink with their friends, see some of the weird and wonderful alien tourists... and trash the place. Of course.
Up on stage, you’ll find the band, Flat Earth Society. Unfortunately, the text-based nature of the MUD means that their repertoire must be left to your imagination. Still, Flat Earth Society (in their original line-up) were Nicklaus Copernicus (lead guitar), Galileo Galilei (bass), Johannes Kepler (saxophone), Tycho Brahe (drums) and Edwin Powell Hubble (vocals). If you could go and see Flat Earth Society, you’d find them playing music in a style reminiscent of some Queen’s heavier numbers. Their best known songs include Orbital Attraction, Heliocentri-City, Looking Up, Feature of the Night, and of course, Heaven is a Place in Space.
In the audience you’d find a typical cross-section of Paradoxian colonists and visiting aliens. Despite the name of the zone, the music played and the dancers danced, twenty-four hours a day (this being explained as a deliberate local time distortion). Nothing but the best for you guys!
Each of the band members’ instruments is also a ‘staff' that can be activated to unleash a different psi power.
The other really useful item in the zone is a roll duct tape . Everybody needs duct tape.
A 'wine cellar' expansion to Paradoxian Nightlife was planned, but never executed. A single room within Paradoxian Plumbing serves as a placeholder for this...
