Chewie was an alternative character of Vader, our founder. It might seem greedy for one person to have two immortal characters, but there you go. Create your own MUD and you get to make the rules! Another issue is of course that these two characters were on opposing sides in the whole 'Alliance vs. Empire' thing. Maybe it was his way of achieving impartiality.

Chewie was originally a player character on EliteMUD, back in the days before the Wormhole was created. In those days he was a mortal - and a lizardman, strangely enough. There he met an immortal called Voyager (who would become Q), a faerie bard called Rachel (no prizes for guessing who she became)... and Talkietoaster, who became Monomer.

Chewie's real-world owner, Daniel Wickes, died on June 27th, 2011. Without him, there would have been no Wormhole MUD. His were the vision, and the skills that turned the aspirations into reality. Without him, few of us would ever have met. Spare a moment to think of our good friend Dan, once in a while. Remember him as he would have wanted to be remembered: committing serial miscomms, and giving us all a good laugh at his expense. It might be easier on the space station's air filters, now they won't be clogged with wookiee fur all the time... but we'll all miss the Walking Carpet.
