Guide
The main differences are thac0. mana and hitpoints classes which rely on physical combat skills get a higher thac0 and hit points but low mana where as casters get lower hitpoints but high mana and low thac0 it's a bit wordy but [1] - in short - 'High THAC0s signify that an attacker is poor at hitting targets, while low THAC0s indicate the attacker can hit targets with ease. There is nothing particularly significant about an armor class of 0 other than the fact that it simplifies calculations.' Theres three grades of thac0 on Wormhole Straight casters like the Medic or Psyker get the worse. ? So as a Space Marine/Psyker my thaco is worse than straight Space Marine? - because they balance that out with casting or ac.
- It's identical - as a compensation for the extra work.
- Space Marine hits 110 with a -16 thac0
? so the dual/tri classes get the better thac0 of their classes but the worse armor restrictions, right?
- A Jedi would have -7 but - they also get the armour casts of their classes. shields, Phase Shift (our equivalent of sanc) & Heal are all defensive skills
- Aggresive casts are attacks.
? as in.. attacks that require THAC0 rolls?
- No powered attacks( mana powered attacks, known as spells on other muds),like Earthquake or Psi Missile(aka magic missile).
Its always confusing with magic... hit rolls, magic resistance, saving throws, damage types, damage resistances.... Basically figure it this way, some mobs are more susceptable to magic, so if your using powers you pick and choose your target. Whereas if your fighting in a zone using hack n slash, some mobs will be better at getting through your armour or do less damage when they do. so in both cases you keep an eye on which mobs do how much damage - helps you to "cherry pick" if your low on resources. ? can you layer defensive spells say cast Armor, Metaphasic Skin and Metaphasic shield all at the same time?
- yes :-)
Some mobs do massive damage - but with the right ac they nearly never hit you. Tris get all the ac spells in the finish - but you work hard to earn them, by the time you level a tri to 110 - youve done as much work as getting that char to about level 50 third remort. Thats slow levelling, but its also unchallenging. ? coz you have all the abilities so nothing is tough?
- Nope - tris dont have the disadvantages of remorts - and they also dont have the advantages or variety.
It's more because you have so many abilities its easy to pick something easy and just keep going to to just pick a bunch of good exp mobs and kill them over and over. Rather than getting the full feel of the mud. Double and tri class is only available to non remorts, so they cant be any of the remort races, like Vampire, or Borg. ? Vampire Space Marines, just what the universe needs.
? ah ok, so useless as marines since they dont use mana
- not useless but.. less useful
- Borgs are all about hitpoints and not really about mana at all
- Vampire Space Marine would be like tying your hand behind your back to be showy
The main difference with force using classes is the light sabres, which start at level 40. Lightsabres are nice weapons in their own right, but a lightsabre adept gets to deflect enemy attacks, at the cost of move. Deflect is always good.. especially when added to dodge, tumble, but its the best of those style of skills which is what makes the force using classes a different experience.
